A typical Romagna dessert: the ciambella

To celebrate the holidays and share a little of our tradition with you, we are giving you the recipe for Romagna ciambella, a typical dessert from our region, soft and rich in flavour.

This version includes raisins and dried fruit, perfect for a family snack or as a ready-to-eat gourmet gift.

By following our simple steps, you can bring a fragrant and authentic piece of Romagna to your table and surprise your friends and family with a genuine, homemade dessert.

Ingredienti:

  • 500 g flour

  • 400 g sugar

  • 200 g softened butter

  • 2 eggs

  • 100 g raisins

  • 100 g almonds

  • 1 packet pine nuts

  • 1 small glass rum

  • 1 packet baking powder

  • Add milk if necessary (the dough should be soft)

Procedure

Preparation of the Romagna doughnut

1. Make the dough in a bowl with the eggs, the butter melted in a double boiler, 250 g sugar, the flour, and the rum.

2. Add the raisins, a few pine nuts, a few chopped almonds, and the baking powder.
Add a little milk if necessary. Make a soft dough.

3. Butter and flour a baking sheet and place the dough on it, working it into a loaf.

4. Cover the cake with the remaining chopped dried fruit and mix it with the remaining sugar.

5. Bake at 170-180°C for about 30 minutes.

Place it on a decorated plate and wrap it in cling film with a pretty bow and a sprig of pine needles.
